[...] The article, "Lessons from the school of hard knocks," inspired by David Prouhet at Business Advice Daily, has proven to be one of the most popular ever posted here, and, better yet, has generated a good bit of some really excellent responses. I've provided links to several of them, below (I hope, as well, that these authors will keep things going by encouraging others to join in!). I highly recommend you click through to compare your own thinking with these terrific, eye-opening contributions - and please be sure to let me know what you come up with: [...]

Jim,

Thank you for sharing! I really like your approach where you take the cards you are dealt and make them work. It is not about you but about making the best of the situation...

AWESOME

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks for joining in!

Jim,

That may not be representative of your entire life, but it's a darned practical list.

And you are right--we take for granted that what is obvious to us is obvious to others. Five thousand years ago Solomon said "There is nothing new underneath the sun." Yet we all have the chance to share proven truths in language that will enable someone else to actually "hear" it for the first time.

I'm going to accept your invitation and knock out the first ten things that come to mind. I'm eager to find out what they are!
