As noted last year, one of the best things about using a venue like this one to write is the opportunity it offers for communication. Many essays become interactive discussions. Managers and observers from all over leave comments of many types.
Some are expressions of agreement or appreciation – those are always nice! Others expand on the post with related ideas or experience from the readers’ own lives and work that lend great practical force to the topic. Still others suggest new ideas for discussion, or even – and this is welcome, too – frankly but considerately expressed and constructive skepticism about the opinions presented.
This is a rewarding experience that, I think, benefits all of us – it certainly is helpful for me. As always, I will warmly welcome and look forward to more of it in 2009.
